There were a remarkable number of wrong words for such a short story. My favorite was [she wore] “nude house and high heels”. (Although the story said “she had” and dropped the “on”.) It’s like someone used Spell-check and accepted the first offering without looking to see if it was correct or not. When I have to rewrite a sentence to what I think the author meant, it stops the flow of the story and seriously aggravates me.The story itself had great, unrealized promise. I normally give books with this many errors either a single star (so I can note the problems) or a total pass if there is no redeeming factor to it. But this book was like a first rough draft ready to be fleshed out into a complete book. There were a lot of opportunities to expand on the character development. Having said that, I liked the characters and only felt that some of the development that did exist was unexplained or the explanation was too pat or trite.
Fortunately for the author, I will not buy more of her books. But this short story, if rewritten into a full book and EDITED could be a real winner.

His favorite inconvenience was awesome. I loved how I was able to resonate with the main character, Sera, in all aspects of her life- her education, her finances, her family and all her imperfections. Even in her not-so-fine moments, I found myself still cheering her on. Especially when she was flirting with a blond, Swedish sweetie with a seriously big heart. The back-and-forth between the two was absolutely HILARIOUS. I would totally recommend this to a friend!
I fell in love with Sera! She was so witty, determined and honest.
Of course we have a HEA, but the road to get there has some twists that make this book stand out.

For any time of year you need a little romance and holiday spirit. Good character development and I enjoyed the cultural insight.
Love the characters! Sera is an annoying young twenty-something but you have to admire her spirit and zest for life. Dane seems like a typical guy until he reveals his devotion to all the people and things he cares for. Their interactions ignite a desire within the reader to hold those two together so we, the readers, can see the sparks fly. Excellent writing!! Can't wait for the next novel!! Hurry up and write away!!!
Poorly developed plot even worse was the character development.....a good story connects the reader to the story and its characters this story kept the reader separated this providing zero buy in. There were some grammatical issues as well as some poor word choices aka phrases that made me cringe.
Opposites attract. No matter how much you fight it, sometimes it's meant to be. Dane and Sera are step siblings. They start off as ice and gradually burn with fire. I would love to read a longer version to this story. Dane and Sera deserve some more page time. 4 stars because of the length.
I liked this short book for the author's use of Scandinavian Christmas time traditions and the description of the food and costumes of the St.Lucia celebration. I also liked the male hero, Dane, for his patience and humor. I didn't really connect with the female heroine, Sera, very well. She seemed to have good reasons for doing what she was doing, as far as her choices about her education, marriage, career, etc... ,but she never made her family listen to her reasoning or tried to show them what she was doing. Her business idea was very creative and successful, but she just let her family go on thinking she was a slacker. I also didn't catch when Sera and Dane fell for each other, one page she's calling him an a*****le, and then they're kissing.
Overall, though, it was a solid short book that stands alone, but also serves as the introduction to the author's new series about this family. It was well written and well edited. There are some sexual scenes and profanity, but nothing terribly graphic.
I would give 3 1/2 stars.
